We are Martians?

We Love Facts recently posted this:

According to NASA's latest research, we may all be Martians. Evidence shows that Earth life originated on Mars and came here on a meteorite.

People on facebook are claiming this is true, and it sounds so incredibly stupid that I'm actually starting to buy into it. Tell me it isn't so.

EDIT: I was imaging dinosaurs getting together and being like "Hey, let's hop on a meteorite. Yayyy!" But I suppose this could be plausible if we're talking about molecular life and not actual life forms. lol

I think they're talking about cell's living in water on mars, then a piece of mars fell into space, it landed on earth during the precambrium era and with earth's water cell's started reproducing, it's certainly possible an interesting theroy really, but I don't think NASA has evidence

do they mean that life formed on mars and was transported to earth, or that some sort of key element came from mars in order for life to form on earth?

i've seen it as well but havent bothered to read

I think the first one,

for life to reproduce there must be water, but if there was already water on earth it must mean there already was life, it's completely possible that some life from Mars went to earth and the cell's already living on earth are extinct by now, leaving nothing but Martian cell's.

To scientists: water = life.

Have they found water on mars? Like actual water they can drink, or is it frozen or whatever.

They've seen signs of dried rivers, and rounded little stones which also indicates on a flowing river

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I doubt it, rocks don't just fly off in to space, there would need to be a large collision in order for that to happen and would have to blast either a large chunk of ice in to space before it melted or a rock with ice in it.

And then it just so happens that said rock or ice hit's Earth?

True, it could happen, but it seems highly unlikely.

I think Earth was probably just a bunch of rocks that due to their mass had a gravitational pull and then a big meteor collided with them, since they're mostly made of water that would melt in to the oceans we have now.
There's no way as much water as there is on this planet could have come from Mars anyway.

Just because Mars seems to have had life doesn't necessarily mean it had life first.

Though thinking about it, perhaps insects came from Mars? They're vastly different to everything else on the planet so perhaps they are from an outside source at least.

pretty sure that's part of their theory as well

This is creeping me out... I thought it was so stupid at first because of my image of dinosaurs and/or cavemen hopping on a meteor.

Fi it happend it probably happened during the precambrium era, the Jurassic era until now makes up less than a quarter of the history of life on earth

Well, it wouldn't make too much difference anyway. Even if there are microbes that were transferred from Mars to Earth in some sort of collision, everything still developed and evolved under the conditions on Earth. I mean, a piece of rock from Mars didn't bring developed life to Earth, simply single-cell organism that evolved to become developed over millions of years on Earth.

'Course, I don't know much, so...

It's fascinating, regardless. Mars has always been extremely interesting. I suppose they're going to compare samples on Mars to samples on Earth that've been contained for millions of years in caves or somethin'.
